Job Summary
The Scanner Operator will support the Office of the Pardon Attorney in Washington, DC by preparing, scanning, and organizing incoming documents and mail. This role involves handling high volumes of sensitive paperwork, ensuring accurate digitization, and maintaining proper file organization within shared storage systems. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience operating document scanning equipment, be detail-oriented, and possess or be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Prior experience in government or litigation support is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize, triage, and process incoming mail
  • Prepare documents for scanning (e.g., remove staples, paperclips, and binding)
  • Perform bulk document scanning and digitization
  • Conduct data entry and tag documents appropriately
  • Upload scanned files to designated shared storage systems

Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • At least 1 year of experience with document scanning equipment
  • Public Trust clearance, or the ability to obtain one
  • Prior experience in government or litigation support strongly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a federal government or legal support environment
  • Familiarity with bulk scanning software (e.g., Kofax, PaperStream, Adobe Acrobat Pro)
  • Proficiency in using multi-function scanning equipment and document imaging systems
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high volumes of confidential or sensitive materials
  • Knowledge of file naming conventions and electronic records management
  • Experience with optical character recognition (OCR) and metadata tagging
  • Ability to maintain chain of custody procedures during document handling
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills under tight deadlines
  • Prior work involving mailroom operations or intake processing workflows
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based file storage platforms (e.g., SharePoint, OneDrive)
