Position Overview

AITHERAS is seeking an experienced Systems Manager – eDiscovery / Litigation Technology to lead technical operations supporting a high-profile federal litigation environment in Washington, DC.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for an eDiscovery professional who can manage both people and technology. The Systems Manager will oversee technical staff, administer and support RelativityOne environments, manage complex litigation productions, troubleshoot escalated technical issues, and provide eDiscovery guidance to attorneys, case teams, and government stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of eDiscovery leadership, RelativityOne expertise, EDRM knowledge, PowerShell scripting, litigation production experience, and systems administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical operations for complex eDiscovery and litigation-support matters.

  • Manage and mentor data processors, systems analysts, database administrators, and other technical personnel.

  • Administer and support RelativityOne, including workspace creation, security, review workflows, analytics, Active Learning, productions, and archival/ARM processes.

  • Manage complex litigation productions involving native files, searchable PDFs, images, metadata, and industry-standard load files.

  • Create, troubleshoot, and repair Relativity review and Active Learning projects.

  • Develop advanced PowerShell scripts to automate technical and eDiscovery processes and review scripts developed by other team members.

  • Provide technical guidance to attorneys, case managers, government personnel, and other stakeholders regarding ESI specifications and eDiscovery workflows.

  • Oversee processing, ingestion, quality control, review preparation, production, and data-transfer activities.

  • Troubleshoot escalated Relativity, processing, data, application, and infrastructure issues.

  • Oversee Help Desk support, technical documentation, SOPs, and user training.

  • Support system security, data security, configuration management, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and storage management.

  • Develop reports and metrics related to data collection, processing, review, filtering, and production.

  • Support attorneys during discovery planning and Rule 26(f) conferences by providing technical eDiscovery expertise.

  • Evaluate emerging eDiscovery tools and recommend improvements to processes, workflows, and technology.

  • Participate in hiring, training, performance management, workload planning, and professional development of technical staff.

  • Provide trial and litigation support when necessary, including occasional extended or weekend hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management, or a related technical discipline is preferred.

  • 6+ years of first-line management experience supervising technical personnel.

  • Significant professional experience in eDiscovery, litigation support, or legal technology.

  • Advanced hands-on experience administering Relativity and/or RelativityOne.

  • Strong understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and litigation discovery lifecycle.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and troubleshooting PowerShell scripts.

  • Experience managing complex electronic document productions and associated quality-control processes.

  • Experience with data processing, loading, review workflows, analytics, and production within an eDiscovery platform.

  • Hands-on experience supporting Windows-based applications and systems.

  • Experience deploying and supporting applications for established user communities.

  • Experience overseeing technical support or Help Desk operations.

  • Strong troubleshooting, systems-analysis, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to attorneys, technical personnel, management, and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong documentation, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relativity or industry-recognized eDiscovery certification such as RCA, CEDS, RelativityOne Certified Pro, or similar.

  • Experience supporting federal government or Department of Justice litigation environments.

  • Trial-support or courtroom technology experience.

  • Experience with Relativity Active Learning / aiR and advanced analytics.

  • Experience with Relativity ARM and workspace archival processes.

  • Experience establishing or supporting dedicated local-area networks.

  • Experience developing specialized litigation databases or customized applications.

  • Experience with CaseMap, TextMap, Microsoft Access, SQL, Nuix, LAW, or similar litigation-support technologies.

  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management, or a related discipline.

  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments requiring occasional after-hours or weekend support.

Schedule & Work Environment

This position is primarily onsite in Washington, DC, Monday through Friday, generally during standard business hours. Candidates must be comfortable providing additional support during major productions, trial preparation, or court deadlines when necessary.
